It'll go 14s with all that work if you put it in a Rabbit, or maybe a gutted MK2. I'm not going to say an all motor 8v in a MK3 will never go 14s, I'm just saying it would take a gutted car, a killer motor, slicks, tailwind... you get the idea.
Although I'm not going to knock what you want to do. The ABA, if built right, is a kick ass motor and will surprise a lot of people. "Is that a 16v" is pretty common. With a well ported head, a set of 83mm JEs, nice big cam, header, 2.5" exhaust, it'll be pretty fast.
