Not that it applies to his car but a G60 engines usually wear out around 160K, tha charger lasts to about 90K and is several hundred dollars to fix or about $3,000 to buy new.

As for things to look out for on his car in particular are things like broken interior parts and expecially broken lights. Many Corrado parts are different from other VWs and some of them can be hard to find or expensive (once again, particularly the lights). Other things to look for are dead motor mounts (excessive engine movement or vibrations will tell you if they're dead), worn strut bearings (a clunk over bumps gives this one away), a second gear grind which indicates a dead 2nd gear synchro, which is common, and as with any VW... always always always look for cracks in the paint around the strut towers and 'frame rail' crumple zones as well as dents in the bottom of the rockers from people jacking it up wrong. Non functional pop up spoilers are also common.

Something else you always want to look for on any chipped G60 or one with a 3.5bar FPR is an overly rich condition, AKA black smoke, and dark spark plugs. G60 tuning isn't exactly a fine art at this point and more often than not they run rich and smoke.
