i think jap. engines should stay in jap. cars, i know nothing about subaru's or hondas or that crap.... keep a vw engine in it...... a 16valve 1.8 liter high compression gti engine and transmission of the same year/body style will directly fit into your car, if you are knowledged with the right tools you could swap this set-up in a couple hours(very easy) you car won't be sickly fast but it will have more power than the stock 8valve engine.... as far as parts your best bet is to go to avw salvage yard and find that engine and trans. or go to euronation.com. so many possibilities that i can;t even begin to post them, go to a magazine store and buy a eurotuner or PVW(performance vw) maybe that will give you idea's............
