The 2 door sedans make great track / autocross cars - they had the stiffest design of all MK1's - being that it's an '84 GLI I'd probably keep it as stock looking as possible (they're not that common a bird) - but a nice set of 14 or 15" factory alloys, maybe a little bit of a drop (they always appeared "nose high" to me) - Euro bumpers - the little things can really make a car like yours stand out -

You might want to try replacing the OEM shift bushings and linkages - typically they wear out and leave you with sloppy shifting - if you do install a short shifter make sure you replace all the shifter busings as well - and line everything up correctly - you don't want the nickname "crunch" - especially if its origin is you gearbox!

Where are those pictures?
