the ones i have now are molded and i am changing them for the exact reason that you described. I got the ones i have now from a friend of mine that shows with me that drives a mercury cougar, i bought them for like 75 bucks, they had to be cut in a zig-zag down the middle to be shortened by somthing like 4 1/4 inches to fit then we screwed them to the car and molded them in, then removed the screws and filled the holes...


anyway, i drove the car about 2000 miles since it was done and both of them are starting to stress crack vertically where we shortened them, and.... thanks to a little trailer ramp mishap (steel = good wood = bad) the passenger side rear molding is completely cracked.
