This was THE car that got me interested in cars, and moreso VW's back in the early 90's. I was fortunate enough to be in the right place, at the right time, with the right cash offer on the table to purchase this piece of a somewhat local legend of a vw

Comments:

yea yea yea... i've put it up elsewhere already, but figured i'd throw it on here since i lurk quite a bit.

It's just your run of the mill, average, nothing special 85 Jetta GL that Byron built. ha ha ha... yea, right. I don't know if there is anything on this that is still remotely untouched or stock.

Alot of the old heads most likely still remember the car - it has for all intents and purposes been the same design / layout / theme since 1991 or so, and still looks the part. I'm still learning about the history of the car, and the more i hear, the more i'm impressed. There do not seem to have been any corners cut in building it, and as it sits right now - it is basically a 27k mile full custom show car.

i plan to drive and enjoy it, will still respecting it's heritage, and what it meant to me originally - it is THE car that got me hooked on cars, and vws in general... so much so that when i had my bug painted in late 91 - i modeled it after this mk2.

if anyone has any old show pics from when it was on the circuit, i'd love have scans or copies of them... just to help build the history files for me.
