Default Back to my roots

***UPDATE*** http://www.vwforum.com/forum/viewtop...=288490#288490

Over the last few months...well really years since my Beetle has been stored in a garage; I wanted to get back into Air-cooled. Air-cooled is where I started my interest in VWs. My father & I restored my 73' Beetle when I was 15, it took 2 years but we did it. I drove it for about 5 years.

Here are some pics of that the 73' looked like.

After my second year of college the cam snapped in the engine was shattered. The car has been sitting ever since. Mainly due to time, I always planned to restore it again. The engine was rebuilt but lives in my father's Dune Buggy (someday it may find it's way back to me).

Well rather than sticking a few thousand into my 73' I found something that is ready to be a daily driver for me. Well I won't drive it to work or anything but will drive it around. The 73' needs everything looked over and some metal work. Plus I always wanted a 60s to make a CAL LOOK Bug. I found this one local too; so it was kinda hard to pass up.

It's a 1965 Beetle, upgraded to a 1600cc with double-barrel carb. Here are some pics; I will be picking up my new old ride next week.

My plans for it are mostly cosmetic:
- New Rims
- Lower it
- Paint the sides white
- Roof Rack
- Re-due interior to back to stock
- and some other minor changes

All in all I plan to drive it so it doesn't have to be pristine to me. Also I don't plan to show it. As for my 73' I will probably be putting it up for sale online & possibly trailer it to some local shows to sell it.

I will post up some more shots when I pickup the 65 next week.
