TTTTurbo1.8T and Golfzex: here is a new question for you.

So on some cars neat features are disabled in the software but the hardwiring is already there. For example: I had a 2003 Land Rover Discovery II. It didnt come with heated seats, but the seats had all the wiring bc its just cheaper to manufacture that way. So I only had to pay about $50 to get switches, and presto i had a $300 option.

On my R32, it doesnt seem to have a compass in the MDF, although the owners manual alludes to this being a feature on some cars. I wonder how cost effective that is for a company that seems to try to maximize component re-use across platforms as much as possible... and so I wonder if the capability may be there, waiting to be enabled... Do you guys know if there is a secret sequence of MDF menu commands, buttons pressed, or whatever that will activate the compass in the MDF display?
