I didn't mention turbo upgrades because far fewer people do them because of the cost and that it turns a daily driver into somewhat of a liability. Not to mention the vast variety of brands and kits to choose one it wouldn't make sense to try and cram all that into one sticky.
The 1.8T uses a side-mounted intercooler setup, it has one on the passenger side fender well where the bumper is vented by a black bumper insert
