1.8 8v timing
i just finished replacing my head gasket on an 84 GTI and the shop manual said to line up the dimple on the cam even with the top of the head and you also had to line up the intermediate shaft and crankshaft. I am not sure how to line the intermediate and cranksafts but i could tell you in an couple of hours when i will have the book in front of me.
