Hey there again guys! I took my car in to the mechanic today to get a donut put in for the exhaust only to find out that it's not a donut repair, it's a pipe replacement problem. specifically a 'front pipe'? Heres a link to show you what i'm talking about.

That section that bolts up to the block has some flexible tubing on it, and mine is torn to shit with no way to repair. As you can see, those parts aren't cheap. Is there any cheaper way to get this problem fixed? One of my friends suggested headers but I don't think that it would work that way. I honestly don't know since this section is so weird.

I've found these ones here and i've also found this one which confuses me. This confuses me because as you can see in that picture, there are header pipes AND this notorious 'Front Pipe'.

This is something that HAS to be fixed, right now, gas fumes are being (and have been) sucked into the cabin whether i'm sitting or driving. I can't use any climate controls including front defrost which simply won't do in the winter time. I've actually had to just get out of the car because I was starting to feel queezy and tired.

Any help you guys can provide is going to be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Hey guys, I'm working on my 96 Jetta project and have hit a bit of a bump (no pun intended). I just replaced all four of my struts completely (quick struts so every piece is new)

Anyways, I had a giant clunk/rattle in my rear driver section that I thought was the strut. Nope. I haven't a clue what it could be. It's not the exhaust, I know that much at least, and I'd like to think it's not the strut since it's brand new. Anyone ever experience anything like this or have any suggestions for me?

I want to know if STP fuel injector cleaner will harm my car? Do I also have to use the whole bottle all at once because it says it treats 21 gallons and i know my car only holds about 12?

Hey all! New here as an actual member. I have an early 1999 Jetta Wolfsburg with 180,000 miles on it. Overall it has been a great car, that is until the other night. At first it started to "arm" the car while I was driving home from dinner. A few days later is started to be more persistent. I found info on disconnecting the white alarm control module and jumping the wire harness so the car would start. That works great. However, the windows were all lowering themselves when I went into the house. I had to get them back up and pull the window fuse. I can live without the remote entry, but I would REALLY like to have my windows. I have repaired some broken wires in three of the doors, but that does not seem to help. when the alarm control module is put back in order, the car chirps twice when locking with the key and three times randomly. Any suggestions would be great. I'm ion my last semester of college and money is tight.

My 95 cabrio developed some bad noises and I happened to have a 97 cabrio with a good engine so i paid a guy to do the swap.

He's a very good mechanic with experience in just about everything except European cars.

He swapped the intake and everything else that was unique to the 95. It's all back together and he can't get it to start.

We're not hearing the fuel pump come on.

As the car started an ran OK before we assume the problem is related to something during the engine swap.

Any suggestions?

Is there a simple way to jump the fuel pump and force it to run?

THanks

Dave

Hi guys, I've had my 1993 Golf for about a month now and this problem has got worse

It feels like something is holding it back usually partial throttle but when you step on it, it seams to clear up and go.

When it did this before the check engine light would be on and if I pushed the gas pedal 3/4 of the way down the light would go off and it would take off

Now the check engine light stays on and its very sluggish.

Ive tried, plugs, wires, TPS, coolant temp sensor, cap, rotor, cleaned TB and Maf, coil

I tried replacing the IACV because mine, if you moved the plug the idle would surge. Once I put a different one on it, the check engine light will stay on unless I unplug it and plug it back in but once I take off to drive it the light comes back on?

any info is much appreciated

Having trouble with my 2.0GLS, the trouble seems to be with cylinders 2 & 3. I pulled the plugs and these looked wet and smelled like complete detonation (if any) didn't happen. When the car is running I can pull the wires for 2 and 3 off of the cap without the idle getting any worse! There is spark going to the wires, I can see it arc off when I pull them off.

I checked the compression of all four cylinders, all running between 150 and 160psi. I also checked the injector connections with a test light, all flashed when I tried to crank over the engine.

The exhaust smells very rich when I can get it to run.

I have changed: plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, air filter. Car is running like crap to say the least.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I got a 93 Golf auto. I was driving on the free way and while driving the CEL came on. Nothing odd happened, like engine noise or anything. I got home and pulled the codes. They read 4431, 2113, 2111. in that order. Ive already tried cleaning the IAC valve and have replaced the VSS ( vehicle speed sensor). Occasionally the gauges dont work still. I will get hesitation upon acceleration when the engine is cold. Also on a side note, when I turn on the A/C the temperature needle goes pass mid point on the temp gauge. I dont want to risk over heating so I usually dont use it. but this happens only when a/c is on. Anyone have these symptoms and would like to help ? please do, thanks

Hello everyone, I am quite new to this forum but i come bearing a few questions to help me enjoy my new car.The Jetta that I am purchasing has 2 big problems that i want to know how to take care of without too much expense.

The first of which is that the car goes through quite quickly this is due to an oil leak near the right bearing. Now when i took a look at the bearing it looked as though a bolt was missing that may sole the problem. now my question for this is that if i bought a new bolt could it possibly fix my problem?

The second problem I have is that the four windows in the cabin will not open. The previous owner of the vehicle tells me that each window went out separately on him, luckily the sunroof still works and winter is approaching here in MN. The question i have is if the windows just stopped working because of a blown fuse or is it a more serious and expensive fix?

Any help to my above questions will be greatly appreciated and thank you for taking the time to ponder my problems.
