So I have checked the fuse and it is one fuse for both meaning thats not the problem, so my guess is that the element is burnt out or the wiring somewhere is not covered.. Any ideas of what the problem is and how I should go about fixing it? How much its gonna cost me to repair?
thanks in advance

I dont see anything defining radio on the cabin fuse panel. I read somewhere that you have to put in a factory code to get it to turn on. But I have taken the battery out and battery terminals multiple times and it has worked no problem.

My MK4 Golf is suffering from chronic random cylinder misfire. Whenever there is a stronger rain storm and I start it, it runs really rough with CEL on. Then, a little later, the roughness is gone but the CEL is still on until reset. The last time I had it reset, it came back on a couple of days later.

Does anyone know what might be causing these misfires?

Thanks for your help!

Hi all,

Hi all,
I recently been having a shifting problem with my 1.8T auto trans. The issue is when I shift into drive from park or reverse, it takes about 2-3 secons in idle to shift. I went to a local trans shop, and then told me they didn't hook up the trans to a scan tool, nor did they even recomed a fluid change, all they told me was the car lacked power, and to fix the problem would be about $2500-$3000!! I was ticked off at that point! Plus i don't even think they checked the oil!!
I read a few posts with people that had the same problem, and figured it would need an Trans Oil change. Its been about 40,000miles since it was done last. So i went to my parts dealer, got a new filter and gasket kit. went to VW and got the right Auto Trans oil.
When I opened the pan to drian the oil, the oil was dark brown, so it was fairly used, and the pan had a thin film of sludge on the bottom. The magnet had a fair bit of sludge, i guess it had a bit of metal in the sludge, but not actual metalic pieces.
I installed a new filter, and put in the correct amount of new oil in the trans. I opend the "inspection" plug for when the trans has the correct amount of oil in it. Stopped when the oil came out, ran the engine, and ran it through the gears. Warmed up the tranny, then topped up the tans.
Now it still has a slight hesitation when I shift! But it does shift gears from 1-4 very smooth, but it has a hesitation..
Is the valve block gummed up? will it go away? I didn't notice any real problems when I dropped the pan.. nothing has broken, or has started to deteriorate.
Please help! Thanks

VW Beetle 2001 1.8t AWM w/APR software

VW Beetle 2001 1.8t AWM w/APR software

Problem 1: So the other day I start to pull out of a driveway and my nephew say, "Hey I forgot something." So I stick it in reverse and floor it. I hit probably around 25mph and it gets a little squirrely (steering wheel goes back and forth a bit). then when I go to take off my traction and ABS light come on. I think "Oh great!" Now when ever I take off I can drive about forty feet and they come on again. If I peel out before they kick on the traction control does work though. weird...

Problem 2: I went to release my e-brake and instead of pushing it in with my thumb I hit it with my fist and POP, the button breaks. Any ideas where to buy a new one? and what do I need to purchase? the whole ebrake handle assembly?

Problem 3: My check engine light is on and when I checked it it says "secondary air" (something or other). I think it is the emission system. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

I have a problem with A/C shutting off while coasting and a boost surge also but I will post about them later.
