HID Light Flicker / ECU Upgrade question

Hey, just bought the Xenon 6000K headlight conversion kit and it looks great....BUT when my day running lights are on, i'm getting a bad flicker in the headlights. Now, when its night time and I turn the regular night time lights on and it works perfect. Just curious if there is a cure for this.

My ECU Upgrade question, is....how dangerous to my motor is it to Upgrade my ECU using this method (see link below) to my 2010 Jetta Turbo. Any input would be great.

Thanks...

Hi,
Just purchased my first golf. It is a 55 plate 2.0 TDI 140 4motion. 53k and FSH.

When i the engine is accelerating and de-accelerating i hear a small like siren noise coming from the car. The car runs perfect but this noise is starting to irritate me. Do i have a major problem here?? Have any of you experienced this or know what's causing this?

Thanks in advance

hello everybody, I have just bought my 2010 VW golf sportswagen TDI 2 weeks ago and pleased with it, it is the highline version, I had bluetooth installed by the dealership as here in Canada the wagen doesn't come with bluetooth for no reason. i have an iphone 3gs , the problem is that the bluetooth doesn't work with it , however my iphone works with an aftermarket portable bluetooth device with no problem at all. The dealership tried the bluetooth they installed with an iphone 3g{ not 3gs } and with blackberry and it worked. i contacted apple who did a restore on the phone , then the bluetooth worked well. however when I sync the iphone to download my apps and then go to the car the bluetooth doesn't work.
so it only works with the phone back to factory setting only. The dealership is trying to investigate the issue but no answer yet.
Has anybody heard about such a problem between iphone 3gs and the new 2010 golf/jetta sportswagen bluetooth.Kindly advice.

I'm a computer geek and just bought a 2010 jetta sportwagen TDI for my wife.

I have the touch screen in the console with mp3 player etc... but not the one with GPS.

Are they the same unit with features simply disabled? Any codes out there to enable hidden features or get access to car parameters like the doors locking?

I know most US car makers who do the stupid door locking for you have hidden options in the computer to disable the annoying feature.

I love hacks!

New Jetta owner - Opinions and Advice?

Just bought a 2005 (new body) 2.5L, 5cyl.

I dont know much about VW, or Jettas and have been wanting to keep mine very classy looking, but definitely look more aggressive... I was thinking about buying the eyelids for the headlights, and this rear window spoiler.

Image: http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ied0135/6465_je-e-123-124_2.jpg
Image: http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ied0135/6462_je-e-123-124.jpg

What are your opinions? I don't want to put a trunk lid spoiler, and keep everything clean and simple, but still custom, my own...

I'm doing all audio now, new speakers, sub, tweeters, then eventually wanting to get wheels as well. On my old car, I put 18's on it, lowered it 2" and had to have rubber band tires. I do NOT want rubber bands. So I was thinking maybe drop the car an inch, and put 17's or 18's on it, but will that prevent me from having a standard width tire? Or if you put bigger wheels on does it still look pretty aggressive without lowering it?

Thanks for any input guys!

We've just bought a 2010 Jetta 2010 sportwagen (on Sunday, in fact), and on Monday the 'Malfunction Indicator Lamp' was illuminated on the dashboard.

We've taken it back to the dealer, and he reset the panel, but now it's just come on again (this is Thursday). We're going to have to take it back again, and were wondering if anyone else is seeing this, whether it's a common occurrence, or ought we be concerned ?

The service rep told us he's only ever seen the light happen twice in a year, and since we've now seen it twice in a few days, we're hoping we haven't bought a lemon.

Anyone got one of these cars, and can soothe our troubled brow ? Any and all help gratefully appreciated.

Also, since the dealer we bought it from doesn't have a service dept. open on Saturday, it's ok to take the car to one (closer :)) that does, right ? Just checking :)

Hope you don't mind a newbie (old newbie--third VW :)) asking yet another rookie question, but...

I remember when I had my '01 New Beetle Sport, there were issues with putting in a drop-in K&N filter cartridge and having the Mass Air-Flow Sensor going off and having to be reset. I could be remembering it wrong, and if I'm recalling correctly, it could have been only an issue with the turbocharged engines.

Would I be ok to put a K&N drop-in cartridge filter in my 2010 (non-GTI) Golf? No issues or problems? Any noticeable hp or mileage gain for those of you with the same 2.5L/5cyl engine?

Thanks again for your help, and best to all!

Thanks in advance for allowing me to be part of your community! :)

I purchased my third new VW today, having owned a 1995 Jetta III, and a 2001 Beetle Sport. Today I purchased a 2010 Golf, and I am very, very impressed with the 2.5 liter, 5cyl engine's power-vs.-fuel-efficiency ratio, and the overall feel of the car on the road. I got the 5 speed, and after having driven an automatic 2004 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck for the past few years, it feels GREAT, I mean GREAT to have a 5-speed manual with some git-up-and-go once again.

My question is this... My dealership claims that there is little to no undercarriage protection on VW's out of the box, and they want to sell me a paint-sealer/undercarriage protection/upolstery protection package for around $600. I have until the end of the month to purchase it. Is it true that there's no undercarriage protection out of the box? Should I consider this add-on protection?

Thanks again, and I'd love to be able to apply the $600 toward some allow wheels instead! Best to all.

05 Golf TDI idle issues

Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and tried searching for the topic of my problem but couldn't find anything. It's probably me so if you know where it is, I could use some help.

My wife's '05 Golf TDI has usually been ideling around 750 rpm but a few weeks ago it jumped up to about 1100 rpm. This weekend I'm going to change oil and filter as well as both air filters just to eliminate that possible cause and it is time anyway.

I'm thinking it may be a Mass Airflow Sensor or an O2 sensor but don't know how to make sure that is it. Has anyone here had a similar issue? If so how was it resolved. There are no engine code lights at all just the high idle. Does it take a computer to definitively isolate a sensor as the problem? I don't want to just replace parts and see if that's it.

Thanks for any and all help!

Cheers!

hi, i really like the golf GTi but the suspension is a little to rough for me. however, i drove the basic golf 2010 with the 2.5 engine and the suspension on it was just right. my question is, can i swap the suspension from a stock Golf into the GTI with the same model year 2010. is it a basic swap or do i need to do anything else. thanks

2007 Jetta fogs up the windows

2007 Jetta fogs up the windows.
I have a problem with a high amount of moisture in the heating system. When you run the heater / defroster after the system heats up with the windows cold (north east car) it fogs the inside of car up bad. I have already checked and cleaned the cowl area, removed the air intake screen from the vent system, and resealed the vent to the cowl with 3M strip caulk. I tested the cowl drains buy pouring water into the cowl area. The cowl emptied fine at the under body by the door and front fender area. I tested the sun roof front drains by pouring water into them also, they also flowed OK to the same drain point under the car. I secured the cowl cover to the windshield across the whole length. (Just took the time to make sure it was locked into the seal grove).
I have not found any sign of water on the floor of this car at any time.
The pollen filter was changed about 3 months ago and still looks clean.
Can someone tell me the location of the evaporator / heater box drain? What else should I look for?
