this is my first post, I was told that it had a blown head gasket,I did not try start the van when I purchased it, so i started taking the rocker cover off an found the cover Melted in around the head bolts and cam, Ive never worked on Vw's before
an never seen anything like this before.
I checked the oil from the dipstick to my surprise looked clean no creamy white liquid or the such, there was'nt much water left in the radiator, I un-did the hose an let the water out an was a little rusty brown an still had green
coolant coming out, and no oil mixed in, Im starting to think if it is the head gasket, now im sorta stuck an want to know if there is a easier way to remove the Exhaust manifold
as it sits at the back of the firewall an very tight fit to remove the exhaust manifold bolts an inlet manifold

any recomendations or feed back on removing
Cam Bolt ,head gasket, exhaust and inlet manifold

Cheers

T4 Petrol Auto Cutting out and stuck in gear

My 98 VW Transporter intermittently stops. This usually occurs within the first 15 minutes of running, but not always. It goes through periods of a couple of thousand kms where it's fine. Other times it will stop several times over 20 kms. The more regularly it's driven, the worse the problem seems to become. The engine just cuts out and the oil light starts flashing although the oil level is fine. If it's still moving/rolling, I can often flick the key back one click and on again, and the engine will jump back to life. If I come to a complete stop and try to restart, it will usually take around 5 minutes before it will start. When it has restarted, it will often have trouble changing gears (auto) for the next 15 minutes. Some times it has been stuck in first and unable to change up. Any help or suggestions as to what might be wrong are GREATLY appreciated!

Hello everyone-

I'm new to this forum...But I have owned VW's my entire life, from fox's to now a 2002 Eurovan GLS.

My question is: Does anyone know where I can get a new (blank) transponder key off the web for my Eurovan? I'm not trying to go the dealership just yet. And looking to get one off the web. Or does does anyone know the id code for the blanks...i.e. id48? Would this blank work for me?

Thanks for the help!!!!

Transporter T5 electric window problem

Hello, I have a VW Transporter T5, with electric windows on a 54 plate. The problem is the passenger electric window switch is not working. At night the switch is not lit up red like the two switches in the drivers door. So I presumed it was the switch but then had a thought that should the window work using the passenger switch on the drivers door? Because it doesnt. Has anybody had this experience or any knowledge of this? I want to try to make sure it is the switch before buying another.
