2009 Jetta airbag light on

My airbag light is on in my dash.Is there a way I can turn it off by say unhooking the battery?I have an old code reader that might work or should I take it in to the dealer?Could this be a costly repair if it's more to just shutting off the light?

You cannot shut off the airbag light unless you have something equivalent to the dealers computer, like VAG COM.

Even if the problem is corrected, you still have to manually clear the light.

Check your warranty book, the supplemental restrain system may have a separate and longer warranty.

Also, is it a CPO car? They have an additional bumper to bumper warranty.
