Default 1976 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible

My uncle and I just completed a 1976 Volkswagen Beetle Covertible project. We completely restored the whole interior and exterior and put a Porsche 356 motor in it. It is awesome, and when I have a chance to take some pics of it, I will post them. Anyone else have older restored VWs?

Some old shop down the street from me specializes in cars 1980 and under. But I've seen some present day Bentley's, Ferarri's, and other stuff. When I see they got a nice car next time. I'll grab my camera and snap some pics of it.

Yes 8 valve, VW restoration (Interiors) is an integral part of our business. We have done several of the Cabriolets and sedans. Not many of the Karman Ghias however. We do have one Ghia in for complete interior restoration (body and mechanicals are done --by another business) and are having a difficult time gathering the right parts and specs on this car.

But, back to the beetle convertible you and uncle have done, congratulations! Yes, do provide some pictures! Wish I could see the baby in real. The Porsche retro fit sounds intriguing. What does that provide in terms of displacement and number of cylinders? I am mechanical, but have enough on my platter with the upholstery to be up to date on all the mechanicals. Would be interested to hear more about that though. I suppose it is obvious that twin carbs come with the setup?

I wish there was a forum that could be supported on this subject as there would be much to exchange about the restoration of Cabriolets (authentic type). For example did you go with synthetic bows or wood bows? I ask because we have had some experiences in that area that lead us to certain convictions.

Again, your endeavors, along with your uncle, sound impressive. I have been in business over 35 years and am still learning, so share anything you would on your experience. BTW, if you are anyone has restored a pre 65 sedan with the folding rag sun roof, please surface with your story. I recently finished a 61 and was that an interesting project. In a word, when you dig real deep in authentic interior restoration, we have found vendor support is or has more to learn also. In many situations, our feedback, has served in product correction and improvement. The industry needs more of this. These old cars can be so nice! Sorry, I will reel it in for now.

Thanks ahead and come back with the pics and more interesting information.
