Default 2000 beetle 1.8t vs 1995 Mitsubishi eclipse gs?

Ok so I have the opportunity to buy either a 95 eclipse gs or a 2000 vw beetle 1.8t. As far as performance, which is better? I've always liked eclipses but since I got my golf 2 years ago I've been pretty into VWs. The eclipse has 10 less hp but has a better quarter mile time. I would base my decision on price but they both need a few things so after a couple bucks into either one they'll end up costing about the same. I've never owned a turbo car so I was leaning a little towards the beetle, since I've already owned an eclipse. So which would be a faster, better car?

The eclipse rs was the shittiest thing known to mitsubishi. Performance was laggy it used a 420a which was basically a base neon motor. The motor can be built up significantly however. The eclipse is also known for strut tower rust which is almost impossible to avoid. The 2000 beetle is a little more up to date. It has a little lest displacement but with bolt on mods would eat the eclipse alive. The eclipse will require more attention suspension wise they were poo. Hope this helped it all depends on what your looking of.

Ya I definitely noticed the shitty suspension on the eclipse I had. This one is the gs. Same motor but has a sunroof. I don't know much about the 1.8t but I know the 420a and the 4g63 are very easy to modify. I'm leaning a little towards the beetle. The only hesitation is that it's a beetle. Isn't it considered a feminine car? Although, this one is a hunter green color with black rims.

4g63 is a totally different motor. I wouldn't say the 420a is easy to modify it will have to be built. Yes the beetle is a girly car but it all depends on what your looking for. Look for a jetta 1.8t. I don't recommend the non 4g eclipses at all.
The cars don't ride like shit they rot.

I would definitely rather a 1.8t Jetta or a gti but this beetle is only $1600 with 150k. I looked at a 2003 gti that was nice as hell but the guy can't make up his mind about the price. My price range is up to $3000. The gti was supposed to be 3k but then the guy changed it to $4000. The eclipse is only $700 but it needs a hood and headlight. If anyone knows of a decent 1.8t somewhere in the Carolina's for $3k or less pm me.
