Default 2009 Jetta engine stalls - why?

hi I have a less than <10K 2009 Jetta. I live in NJ and we had some heavy rain two weeks ago. The past Saturday, the weather was nice, so I drove my jetta for 30 miles on a highway, and then drove into a parking lot. As I stop my car to wait for another car to get out, my engine suddenly stalled. I noticed the battery light was on (it was not on before) and the radio and AC were still running. I was able to restart the engine right away, and drove home. Today I took my car to the 10K maintaince, and told the service department about this problem. They called me back saying nothing they can do at this point... they can't reproduce the problem but they did the basic checkup, everything seems to be fine. what can I do at this point? I drive a lot of highway every day and afraid this will happen again. This is a fairly new car.... do you guys have any idea why this is happening. We had big big heavy storm two weeks ago, my car parked out on the street, and I did drive it out for a couple days in the heavy rain, and in an area even got some flooding on the street, the water is about half tire height or less. My friend says it might be the water messing up the electrical system. Is that possible? but the roads have been dry for a few days before this happened on Saturday.
