I just want to ask how hard is it to install a new car radio, replacing this moonsoon system. how do you take this radio out..

And how do you take the head light bulb, I want to replace it and what kind of bulb should I used?

Thanks... I'm a new to this VW.

Personally I think that the Monsoon system is very nice. If you want to replace only the head unit, then that isn't very hard. Im not a huge electrician or anything but I do know that most places where you purchase car cd players/radios will install them for cheap or free. As far as replacing the speakers, thats gonna take a while and cost you more money than its worth. Unless you're one of those "gangster pimp playa hustlas" who needs the BIGGEST and BEST kickin' system.

As stated above, other than the HU itself, I would not attempt removing the Monsoon amplifier or speakers. The Monsoon amp is auto sensing, so it will activate when it recieves a signal. Also, the system will sound much better with an aftermarket HU installed. Try that first before you yank the whole stock system.

I'm just curious - will aftermarket HU still work with the 6 disc changer (the oem one)? If simply upgrading the HU makes a big enough difference I would consider it. My friend just bought a 99 A4 and we were looking at some clarion HUs yesterday and they would match Audis and VWs perfectly.

With the OEM changer...no. At least my Panasonic HU won't. You would have to install a manufacturer specific changer to go with the HU.
