Help !!!!

hey everyone,

i have just promised a girl i am keen on that i would take out her existing radio from her 1998 polo, and replace it with a new cd player. however, i can not find a decent wiring diagram online, so if someone could post one up for me i might actually have a shot with her, instead of looking like a complete muppet.
also what is the best method to dismantle the dash etc to follow wires to speakers and retro fit rear speakers.

use a battery and touch the end of the wires if a speaker makes white noise then those two wires are the speaker wires

I dont know anything about POLOs but there are commonalities between every models that could help make an educated guess on wire colors.

1) Is the existing radio stock? If so the wires should still be arranged in a multipin connector.

2) Do you own a multi meter to track out the power and accessory power

3) agreed that the battery method is good to track the speakers but you have to ID tha power, access power, main ground, antennae etc first.

After that's all said and done, find an aftermarket wire harness to go with the car...try Metra Electronics, you are probably not from the states having a polo and all but I'm sure you guys have something similar there. Don't fuck up her wiring by snipping the wires from the harness and just splicing them in. Do it the right way or you'll be taking cold showers for the next 5 days.
