Thumbs down not so good Vdub

My vehicle is a VW autosleeper camper with just 8400 miles but 4 years old, obviously in pristine condition.
Thanks for the forum I should like to tell you about my experience with VW and it is painful. My camper goes to the VW agent for service and anything else so when it lost all power I went to them for help. They diagnosed a blown turbo and advised me to contact VW which I did, VW told me that my garage was not qualified to diagnose problems with a van and I had to take it, in limp home mode 15 miles to the VW commercial garage where it was diagnosed as a blown turbo. VW offered to pay 50% of the bill, but i first had to take it home, 15 miles, then return to the garage, another 15 miles all in limp home mode. After the work was completed VW actually paid 44% of the total cost. Unfortunately they don't tell you about problems like this in their advertisements so be warned.

Yeah that sucks but dealing with any car company sucks. Most other companies would just tell you to f**k off, they are getting worse as time goes by. What year is this van anyways?

Hi mcrow
Yes I think you're correct but it's the way that VW did it that makes it worse, not prepared to take the word of their main agent because it's a car dealership although they have a dedicated van mechanic. My problem now is that if this garage is not qualified to diagnose problems with my vehicle then I might just as well take it to a small private garage for it's servicing. I know that the VW car agents are not very happy with the way that VW treat me.
The van is a 2005 and of course VW only give them a 3 year guarantee, were as most other cars have a 5 year, in some cases 7 year guarantee

It is the main VW dealership in this area and they have always been excellent with their work and I have no gripes with them, they are called White Rose VW near to Keighley but I would never ever consider getting another VW and because I have a large sign up in the rear window of my vehicle saying "volkswagen reliability 8400 mile turbo blown kapput expensive" I know that I have put a few people off buying them. One bloke said " I was going to buy a camper like yours but only 3 years guarantee, I'll stick to Toyota's"

Default good forum

VW are going to town with their adverts about how good their vehicles are but they never ever mention the problems that some owners have and the fact that VW are not VW owner friendly, in fact they are downright unfriendly, unhelpful and arrogant with it. At least with this forum I can see that I am not the only one with mechanical problems
