Regular or Synthetic

I just recently bought a 04 GLI with 260000kms on it, Im pretty sure that its only ever had regular oil its whole life. Would it be wise to switch to Synthetic at this point, Im thinking it couldnt hurt, right.

if it is a 2004 gli, it is a 1.8t... if not a vr6. you do not have a gli if you have a 2.0.

2004 GLI 1.8T
