Diagnostics show that the wastegate actuator (hope that's the correct translation, here it was called a vacuum clock), is defective.
The garage that did the diagnostic (VW shop) gave me a quote for only replacing the actuator. However, when I called around, another place told me I should replace the entire turbo as a problem with the turbo might be the reason why the actuator broke.
So does anyone have any experience around this subject?
Also, general steps to replacing the actuator/turbo would be good to know. (I'm not gonna do this myself, but I like to know that goes into doing it, so I don't get ripped off at the shop).
