Default Under Hood Insulation

can i take off the black insulation thats under the hood? friends told me not to because it keeps the hood cool from the heat of the engine, and if i take it off it will just ruin the pain on the hood. is this true?

NO, take it off and you might actually hear whats under the hood. it might help keep it a little cooler with out it. its just there to dampen the noise.

i took mine off so i could hear my turbo and my intake more. it's definately louder. i'm not too worried about the paint peeling, my car is black and i live in Florida, i just don't think the engine makes the hood any hotter than the sun. It looks better to IMO.

Take it off, it's 100% safe. Having it on does muffle your engine a bit. Plus you can keep the under coat of the hood much cleaner with it off.
