Default 1981 wiring harness for 1980

Would a dashboard wiring harness from a 1981 rabbit diesel pickup fit a 1980 rabbit diesel pickup? If not, what is involved in making it fit?

Wont fit. Not even close. You would need to change the fuse box AND the dashboard because both are totally different in every possible way.

The 81 wiring harness has the fuse box already connected. Are the instrument cluster hook-ups completely different between 80 and 81? When you say that I would have to change the dash board, do you mean that the mounts for the lights and wipers switches would have to be modified? Thank you for your quick response Fourt1thirty.

Everything is different. The connections for everything under the dash are different including the heater controls. The connections to the fuse box for everything else in the truck are also different including the engine and taillight harnesses.

Remember, the dash harnesses are the same in standard Rabbits and Rabbit P/Us, and the interior harnesses are the same on gas Rabbits too.
