Hi
I have a mk1 golf 1981, 1600cc engine. The problem i am having is, the car started up then stopped, no ignition lights on dash no power when key switched. I found the earth strap had snapped from the battery, after replacing the strap from the battery to the engine i tryed to start the car, but there is still no ignition lights (the battery is fully charged) can anybody offer any help?

Thanks

I would start by making sure all the connections to the battery are good, with clean terminals and battery posts. The ignition switch has been known to go bad and it's fairly easy to test by pulling the plug out of the back of it and trying another one (usually from a junkyard).
