Default Car's Acting Up

OK, i don't know if it's because i was low on gas, or it's my engine... just to remind you, i am a chick, so i don't know much bout cars... this is my problem. for work, i had to drive to one of their other stores to pick something up. on my way back, my car started to jerk for a couple seconds while i was in 5th gear. so in other words, i've had whiplashes randomly today... anywho, i downshifted to 4th gear and it jerked once and i was fine after that. When i got off the freeway, it did it again and then, when i came to a complete stop in the parking lot of my work, my car just automatically turned itself off. i start it up again, and a couple feet after that, while i was still moving, my car turned off yet again. after work, on my way home, my car kept jerking off and on here and there... probably once or twice maybe. Then when i was about to turn into my street, my car turned itself off again. Thank god i made it home without having to call AAA or home (or my family would make fun of me )

that sucks. something like that happened to my car. I am not say that this will fix it but this is what my problem was. My car had the same sort of symtoms and then it just stop starting completly. I checked my cap and rotor on my distributor and the rotor had disinigrated and seased the distributor completly. So you might want to check your cap and rotor just for a start.

I have a 1984 rabbit convertable myself. My problem was the same, come to find out that the gas tank is starting to rust inside. The fine grit was clogging my transfer pump filter in the tank!So I am in the middle of replacing the tank.
