Default engine engine engine which one should i get

ok the vw im importin has one f*** to hell engine rust broken hoses etc not even worth fixing so i have a qustion.....can i put a late model VW 2.0l 4 cyl diesel(from europe) in tthe 1973-82 (idk what yr the registration dont say anything abt it) Golf cabriolet or should i buy an aftermarket engine from like jdm or watever

Yes. Any VW 4cyl made in or before 1999 will bolt in.

Now for the real question. Why on earth would you import a Golf Cabriolet if it's a beater?

to restore...its a hobby i like to do somthin when im bored.... makes me happy and when its a beater theres already room for fixin and modding

yeah but why would you import it, they were sold here from 1980-1992, pretty plentiful and cheap

The AAZ diesel (a 1.9 ltr) will bolt right into the Caddy as will the 1Z and AHU TDI engines, though the TDI is a real pain in the wiring department. I chose to put a modified AAZ in my 1981 Caddy and couldn't be happier.
