Default ignition control trouble need help...asap

i just recently stuffed an 84gti motor in my 79 rabbit and switched wiring harnesses. everything worked beautifully for a while and then my ignition control went out. i replaced it with a new on and it ran beautifully for about thirty seconds before it burned out also. any ideas as to why they both burned out so fast? ive looked for shorts but couldnt find any. am i over voltaging it? im also looking for a new ignition control unit if anybody has an extra one for sale!!!

You talking about the module that mounts in the rain tray? I would start by confirming that it has a good ground and that the coil is connected the right dirrection. Where are you located? I might have a few extra modules kicking around.

i replaced the wiring from the hall sender to the ignition control and to the coil and i hope that fixed my problem. i still am looking for an ignition control so if you have one that would be great, they are kind of hard to find. i live in grand junction co zip 81506. i would love to buy it from you if you have it.
