Default MK1 16V not running for three years!!!

Hello im craig and this is my first post, i have had a mk1 golf for 5 years since i was sixteen. the problems began when i put the 16V in, it was a 1.3 so it has a crappy tank with no baffles but i have a baby on the way so i cant afford a GTI tank. Also no money to buy a manual was hoping someone can help me out with wiring for the fuel pump and warm up valve. and also ive got the mk2 16v pump accumulater and filter in one and have no idea where to fit it got some pics if they would help. Thanks very much.

Fuel pump wiring should be the same (unless the 1.3 had a mechanical fuel pump, in which case there should be a relay for the fuel pump (cleverly called the fuel pump relay) - it gets constant power to one pole (ignition on) - gets momentary power when you first turn on the key and then depends on a signal from the hal sensor to the ECU to the relay to keep pumping - you can do it far easier with a fused wire to a switch on the dash (make sure it's only "hot" when the igntion is on).

The warm up regulator works off of a timing relay I believe -

Sorry I can't be more specific with the wiring than this bit of speculation and theory - but you can run the fuel pump off of a toggle switch and bypass all the relays and stuff - the warm up regulator - maybe -

Best of luck

Steve
