Default mk1 dash to mk2

i've got an 1991 vw golf gti parts car with a nice dash no cracks tears nothing and my 83 rabbit gti daily driver with a shitty red dash could i convert my mk2 dash and bolt it right up to my rabbit?

It's a nice idea - but be prepared to do a lot of fabrication. I believe there's a fairly significant width difference - among other contour differences.

It may be easier to remove the MK1 dash, fill the cracks, get the surface nice and smooth and bond a fresh layer of vinyl or suede to it, then re-install it into the car - thinking about it suede or alcantra would look really cool in a MK1 .....

the width difference isn't bad, this is a really popular dash swap... i don't think its toooooo difficult, check the vortex, theres alot of info about it on there
