It's taken him the past 5 months or so, but in Pats defense he was drunk for a decent part of that time. He also swapped the 11.3" brakes and ABS system. It's pretty cool, although the VR MK1 is something I don't think I'd ever do.

Damn MK1 with 6 pistons, sounds mean....

I guess it's best suited for the 1/4 mile with the heavy nose.

My concern about the car:

By nature the MK1 is a noseheavy car that tends to lift the inside rear tire under moderate turning or braking into a turn.

So we put in a VR6... tack another 150lbs or so in front of the front axle line. Now it really likes to lift the inside rear.

Add ABS to the car. Although a pretty cool idea, I don't like ABS just because I like having control over the brakes. That isn't my issue though.

This is - What happens when you go to brake into a turn and it lifts the inside rear wheel?

Pretty simple really. It's called "Glide Mode". The inside rear wheel stops when it leaves the ground, ABS kicks in, the brakes dissapear and you drive right into whatever happens to be on the outside of the corner you were taking, be it a car, a curb, cones, or a human.

Yeah unless you have 4-way abs it will cause severe problems under certain conditions.

Crazy Rabbit!

As for the weight issue, if the front end gains 150 lbs. from the VR6, couldn't you just add 150 lbs (or close to it) in the rear to even up the weight distribution? Keep the full interior (rear) add a rear strut bar and sway bar, chunky roll cage in the rear, wide tires in the rear(deep dish ), synchro conversion (that one's for you Aaron ). You know, as much as you can to even it up.....
