Got a 79 FI rabbit. The engine's getting old and worn out. What kind of engine would fit or what kind of engine would go in there without much modification? And Would I need to get a transmission also? Any advice would be appreciated.

Any MK1 gas engine - the 16V's are really fun in a rabbit - 2.0's can be fit in as well - as can VR6's (but if you're not looking to do major fabrication ignore that last one) - if your rabbit has a 4 speed gearbox this would be the ideal time to upgrade to a 5 speed -
then again - you can always rebuild YOUR engine - or just get a rebuilt stock engine and install it - then you wouldn't have to mess around with the fuel injection or ignition - it'd be plug and play - |
