Default Need some help 80 diesel pickup

so heres the story. got a new exhaust and blew the glow plug relay atleast that was the one that smells really bad and i opened it up to check. so i got a newer one that works but now i have no lights or turn signals ect. pulled all relays out and opened them up. all seemed good. when i start the truck no glow plug light is present but the temp and brake light are lit. when i try to turn on my lights they go away and my temp gage peggs to like 300+ my batt gauge drops like theres nothing there and nothing on my idle gauge. wierd thing is that i have a 9-10v battery that i hooked up and the lights are very dim it doesnt start but when i put the good battery in they dont work at all. if anyone has suggestions that would be great!
