Default oil injector pump problems

I bought a 1980 Rabbit pickup last Thanksgiving and have been having serious trouble in getting the poor thing up and running normally. It's been in at the Freccia Brothers shop in SWestern CT since I had it shipped from Oregon in December. Apparently it's got quite a few issues, most of them managable, but the main problem is the oil injector pump. The engine was rebuilt last year and my mechanics say the wrong parts have been used. The parts they need are 068 130 107 AG and R 668 046 049 4077. They have had a difficult time in sourcing them. I am not sure where to begin in looking for said parts, I would appreciate any advice you can give me.
Many thanks!

was the PO running biodiesel (a mix of petro and veggie oil) or pure veggie? I ask because if you run pure veggie oil it can "gel" in the lines, pump, injectors etc when it's below a certain temperature. There's not that much that can go wrong with an oil burner - if it's got compression - glowplugs and fuel it should run.

A filter change and good flush with regular pure petro diesel just may wake 'er up ....

According to my mechanics, the main problem lies in not having the right parts. (BTW- I haven't tried running it on biodiesel yet, just on straight diesel, but thanks for the input)

I suppose then, I'm confused as to why your mechanic can't source the correct parts - or why they weren't there to begin with - was the vehicle running when you purchased it?
MK1 diesels aren't that uncommon in scrap yards (thanks to age, abuse and tin-worm) -
Anyhow - hope you get it sorted -
