Default Replace Headliner Board

I just got myself a 1982 biodiesel rabbit and glad to find a VW community.
The headliner and board was ripped out. Does anybody have suggestions as to where I can find another headliner board and would it be possible just to make one? I am not taking about the material but the actually fiber board.

Thanks,

Gio

Your best bet is to go to a junkyard or check out a vw recycler maybe even the classifieds on a forum like vwvortex to get one. You DON'T want to go to the stealership to buy one, they're several hundred bucks!

Fiberglass.

Mold/wire in a couple more dome lights while your at it. If your clever, you should be able to use the same mount points that were used for the original headliner, or maybe add some new ones. the stock one is held in place by the door seal stripping, the coat hangers and, i think, another set of screws in the back. I personally think it looks like crap and has the tendency to droop and contort after time. It shouldn't be that hard to make one... or so I hope as i plan to get to this soon!
