Default Speedo Cable Question

I have an 81 Rabbit Diesel Custom L with a broken speedo cable. I tried the local parts store for a replacement cable and they wanted to know if it's the upper or lower cable but I didnt have clue what they were talking about. After searching online there apperently is a cable that goes from the tranny to an EGR counter along with a cable that goes from the EGR counter to the instrument cluster being a two-piece speedo cable. My Rabbit has a one-piece speedo cable going from the tranny straight to the speedo but I cant find this cable online. I can only find cable with length of 545mm and mine is about 900mm-1100mm. Does anyone know where I can find the proper cable.

Thanks,

Clint

Diesels don't have egr counters. Make sure they have the engine right. If that doesn't get it done Rabbit GTIs didn't have EGR counters.

If that doesn't work:

It's the bottom one. Screw local business if they aren't smart enough to find you the proper part.

Thanks Fourt1thirty,

I ended up ordering from autohausaz.com way cheaper than expected.

Thanks again,

Clint
