Default suspension interchanability

Are the a2 golf, gti 85-9x? frt and rear springs and shock/struts interchangable to my 81 a1?All?? if not any and if so what parts can and can't? Not lookingfor perfomance as its diesel.just seems to be more kits for 85-up ..like to order a kit if possible similar to http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MONRO...spagenameZWDVW ..not sure of the brands quality but see many of these kits thanks for the help thusfar on my other problems

The major (non cosmetic) change to the A2 from the A1 was the front suspension - so you're probably out of luck there.
