You have a number of options -

1) there used to be a company that sold a kit - can't recall who it was - and I'm thinking back to the 80's - so that option may not work for you.

2) leave the compressor guts in place (ugly but functional)

3) remove compressor and mounts - roll your own replacement from fairly heavy steel

4) find a non-airconditioned MK1 rabbit, pickup or scirocco and snag the whole assembly off of it - transfer it to your car - if my memory is working correctly on non AC cars the alternator mounted highter - sort of where the AC compressor is in your car - which is kinda nice 'cause it gets the alternator out of the "spash zone" -

#4 is the easiest, #2 is the cheapest, #3 might be the most satisfying - especially if you can cut and weld fairly heavy steel -

Best of luck!

Steve
