I just got my g/f's car running great with a new t-body and exhuast manifold and this morning we go outside and the hood is up and door is open. Someone took the alternator! I can't see anything else wrong with it or missing, but WTF man! To bad for the people that did it, that thing couldn't even keep 12volts with the lights on.
Anyone have one that they would be willing to sell for cheap? |

so my new alternator has three places where I could plug in the smaller of the two wires, I know it runs to the battery if that helps, but which one do I plug it in to? Since i didn't take it off of the old one and never really paid much attention to it I don't know off of the top of my head and I don't think it would matter which spade connector I use but i like to make sure I do things right the first time.

If memory serves me right...
Hook 1 and 2 up to the main stud on the alt., 3 should be the trigger wire to kick in the alt. You should trace wire 3 till it changes somewhere in the loom to a light blue wire.... just to be certain. This wire (3) will be connected to the smaller stud on the alternator.

well, i have the light blue wire which from what I can remember had a female spade connector and went over a male spade sticking out of the alt. The large red wire bolt to the post sticking out, and those are the only two wires that I can see that were cut and i think they were the only two there. i know there is a change in the wiring with different years.

oh yeah, problem is that the new alt. has three male spades sticking out and I can't determine if it matters which one I use and they are all sticking out slightly different. One sticks out from the inside of the alt., which would be my first guess, one is attached by a bolt/nut type setup and one has a plastic protective shield around it which would be my second guess.

so check this out, as I said before, the alternator was stolen out of my g/fs car like 2 or 3 days after I pulled it out of the garage having completed some work on it where it sat for 2 weeks. There was an old cabby in the alley around the corner from us until just recently. The thing had been sitting there since we moved in about a year ago and after her car got broken into for that we were both kind of wondering about the possibilty of that car suddenly moving. Last night when coming back from the store I looked over and didnt see it so I went back and drove through the alley to double check, the old cabby is gone and there is another vehicle sitting where the cabby had been sitting.
do you guys think this is a coincidence or should I get midevil on someones ars? |
