Exclamation vw cabriolet gear problems

i have had my vw cabriolet for 8 months now and i been having a really hard time with the changing of the gears especially 1st and reverse they keep telling me is common problem in these cars but i dont know how to fix it can any body tell me or show me a link on how to fix it

Is your problem with putting it into those gears, getting it out, keeping it in gear or all of the above?

With what little you have given use to go on here are some general reccomendations. All the engine mounts and shifter bushings need to be in good shape for the shifter to function correctly. The Bentley manual for your VW give detailed instructions on changing worn parts and proper adjustments. You can rebuild he entire shift mechanism in an hour.
