16v Fuel Distributor/Intake problem.. Help!
I have an '81 Pickup with an '87 Scirocco 16v engine. The engine will start for a second or two on a cold start and then die and will not start back up again except when i take the intake boot off and hold the flap up. As soon as i let it drop the engine shuts off. I had a mechanic(non-vw mech) play with it but he didn't know what he was doing and i told him to get lost. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated and or if anyone that lives close and can fix it, their time will be paid.

it just sounds like u need the whole air box assembly itself cuz i had that problem b4 and thats what i had to end up doin. u could also check and see if u have all the vacuum lines hooked up since the vain is vacuumm controlled
