Default 91 jetta, won't start after coil wire accidently hit chassis

earlier today i was doing a compression test on my 1.8L 8v jetta, afterword it wouldn't start. the only thing i can think of is the coil wire dangling and smacking the chassis. would that fry or ground anything?> nothing else happend. car ran when i did the test and now i have no spark afterword. ideas anyone?

BTW voltage at the coil wire when cranking is 12v. basically juice goes into the cap and does not come out.

it sound like the hall senor in the distibutor. $100 part and you got to take the distibutor apart to get to it, or find another distibutor

is there any way to test the ecu or igniton control module? i agree the distributor could be bunk. when voltage goes into the cap and nothing comes out there are only a few things that could cause it. i'll be doing tests tomorrow. the more ideas you toss my way the better.
