alt. question
ok guys im trying to replace my brothers alt. he has a three wire plug on his alt. all the replacements have wire terminals on the back no room for a plug.its an 86 golf 5speed. anyone run into this?

it's the wrong alternator - there were a couple in the mid 1980's - the one you want should be a Bosch and should have the socket in the back - take the old alternator with you when you go to return the wrong one and buy a replacement - make sure they sell you the correct one.
