blown cv half shaft
So I am driving to work in my '86 Golf. I stopped at a stop sign and as I accelerated into the turn the left cv joint blew, leaving the half shaft dragging on the ground. The kicker is that all 6 bolts that bolt it to the transaxle (i think) are all broke off. I don't think they are the factory bolts as they are a standard 6-point allen head. Has anyone seen anything like this? The tie-rods are getting worn, could that have placed more stress on the bolts? Any ideas?
