Default broken break and clutch bracket

hi i have a 91 vw glof a couple of weeks ago my hubby was driving pushed on the breaks and the bracket holding the breaks clutch and gas broke. fortunately he was able to make it home. i was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else, and if the bracket can be removed and replaced. we do all our own mechanical work to our vehicals thank for any help i can get.

This is common on Mk2's. I would suggest that you go to the yard and grab a replacement. It isn't all that hard if I remember correctly. Like three 13mm head bolts.

More like 8 bolts, and they're all pains in the ass to get to. It's far easier if you just accept that dropping the steering column is part of the job.

Oh yeah...
When I did it the car was stripped and the dash was out.
