I have an 89 jetta. When i run the car it takes a 10 or more minutes to warm up to operating temp. The light will flash for like ten minutes. Could this be a thermostat stuck open? Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas? Thanks

Even a small coolant leak on the thermostat housing can cause such problem. Also if your heaters blow warm even when the temperature is reading low after your car's been running 10 mins or more, then it's also a temperature sensor issue. And a slight water leak will cause air in the water system than can lead to a false temperature readings. These are other auto parts and signs to inspect aside from a bad thermostat. Hope this helps.
