Default Distributor timing help please!

Hello Guys,
Im kinda new to VW's and just put a new head on a 8v from a 1987 Audi 4000. Im trying to get my timing down, i already set the crank and the valves, but im having trouble with the distributor. I have the timing belt off and cant get the rotor to budge in order to turn it to the 0 degree mark on the distributor. I looked in the manual i have and it said to make sure the oil pump shaft lug is paralell with the crank. The problem is i cant find the shaft let alone the lug, im assuming once i turn the lug it will disengage the gear so i can turn the rotor, just need advice on what to look for.
Any help would save me alot of frustration
Thanks

try putting the car in neutral, and make sure you set your brake. you should be able to move it now, or grab the intermediate shaft pulley, and move it from that end. hope this helps.

your dist shaft ride on the lug, and do what he said, if that doesnt work use a rubber mallet to try and free it up but be careful be cause its shit metal and breaks easily
