Default Help!! 90 golf No spark

I have a 1990 Golf 1.8l, i has been sitting all winter, and i decided to fire it up, and it would not start. The battery was dead, so i charged it, but it only turned over slowly, so i took the battery out of my other car (which was a new battery). the car turned over fine, but would not start. i checked the fuel rail, and there was fuel there, and i could hear the pump, so i checked for spark, No Spark. I check the distributer, there was 12 volts at the wires on the dist.
i checked the coil there was 12 volts on the red/black wire, and the black wire (is this correct? does this make sense?).
i also checked the green wire on the ecm, and there was 6.5volts there, is this right?

I do not have a wiring diagram, and i do not know what the voltage is supposed to be on this wire, does anyone know?

Does anyone have any suggestions of what i might check (or hit with a hammer) next?

Any help would be great
Thanks

i just had the same problem. take a 8gauge wire ( GROUND ) and make the wire go from the bat - post to the ignition coil bracket ( make sure to sand to bare metal ) this was told to me by a certified vw mechanic and it worked!!
