Default this should help,i just fixed mine after 4 months

start with the basics clean your throttle body and tune up..make sure your car is in time.than buy a good idle air control valve do not go to a junk yard or ebay...buy a new one its the only way u'll figure it out, than if its still idiling at 2 grand, check to make sure none of your wires are ground out or shorting from your harness going into ur ecu,and last but not least...it could be ur ecu worst case scenario.....which that was mine. i bought a brand new one from vw......and it cost me 600 dollars with my 25% discount.i put it in and it ran great, than my luck no shit 2 days later i blew my head gasket due to driving around for 4 months with my dub idling at 2-3 grand.so if u need an ecu ill sell u the one i bought,i have the receipt and its under warranty......u wont find a good ecu from a yard...later
